Character Name: (Villanelle) Oksana AstankovaSAMPLES
Age: 26
Canon: Killing Eve
World Description: Killing Eve Wiki
History: Villanelle Wiki
Death: At the end of Season 1 when Eve stabs Villanelle, Villanelle bleeds out from the wound instead of reaching the hospital in time.
What are your plans for this character in-game? She is a psychopath and a murderer. In universe employed as an assassin, without her job, she's really just a serial killer. I'm not sure how much longevity a serial killer will have in game, and I'm open to her being deliberately multiple-murdered by the townspeople at some point.
At first she's going to pretend to be someone harmless, she has a love of disguise and she'll put that to good use. she will definitely try to kill some people, I'd like to see her succeed a couple of times, and she'll be both intrigued and miffed at the reincarnation thing. Eventually I'd like the characters to realise they have a killer in their midst, and track her down, lock her up, put her to death, see above.
Should a character fit her type (female in her 40s with dark, wildly curly hair, or grey haired mentor-type male in his 50s) she may develop an attraction/infatuation/obsession with them. Should the other player be willing, I'd be up for playing something like that out in game.
What aspects of this game and/or its setting are you most interested in having this character engage with? The coming back from the dead bit, definitely. She is also unable to feel fear, which means the general creepiness of the town is less likely to press on her as much as others. She's relentless and curious and will throw herself into explorations. She is gonna hate the lack of haute couture.
How does your character generally get along with other people? When in disguise, she's perfectly able to mimic the normal range of human emotions. Like most psychopaths, she can observe and recreate the appearance of emotion even though she doesn't feel it herself. These disguises don't usually last that long, however. I think the pressure to keep up 'normal' will eventually make her snap.
She treats most people like objects and she feels no remorse for killing or maiming them. She is capable of tolerating or even liking some people, she mentions liking Konstantin's daughter, despite kidnapping her, being utterly annoyed with her, and willing to kill her. She clearly has feelings for Konstantin as a father figure, and yet, she's willing to kill him when he is assigned as her target. Of the three women she's loved, she murders Nadia, barely reacts to Anna's suicide and in season 2, shoots Eve. In short, liking or even 'loving' someone is no bar to murdering them.
She's attention seeking, demanding and childish, she's as likely to get into an argument with someone as get along nicely. Outside of a deliberate disguise, she's frank and unconcerned by social niceties - she can be rude, which can lead to arguments and eventually murder. That said, if she has a goal for the interaction, she can mask the negative aspects of her personality. She has a mockingly antagonistic relationship with her elderly neighbour, she's able to flirt easily and pick up men and women for sex. Given the right incentive, she can be just as classically charming as any psychopath can be.
What is your character's mental state upon entering the game? She's broken out of prison, tracked down her father figure to kill him only to have him attack her and run off, kidnapped his daughter, finally shot him, been reunited with Eve, walked away from her offer of safety, and been tracked by Eve to her apartment. They shared their obsession with each other, lay down next to each other and then Eve stabbed her. Villanelle's dying words were, 'I really liked you' and, 'that hurt'. She's both proud of Eve for her capacity for violence and also put out that Eve, well, killed her. She's still exhausted from the drama of the past few days, and insofar as she can feel anything, raw from Konstantin's rejection (he chose his family over her) as well as Eve's attack.
Skills/Abilities: She was broken out of prison and trained as an assassin by the Twelve. She speaks a handful of languages, is good at accents and disguises, can sneak in and infiltrate locations/organisations, has knowledge of chemistry and anatomy, can deliver basic first aid (usually on herself), is physically stronger than you'd expect and experienced in armed and unarmed combat. She knows how to research and read her mark, and she can manipulate and lie to get what she wants.
Flaws/Weaknesses: She mentions not liking ghosts. As she can't really feel fear, it wouldn't count as a phobia, but might be the closest she can come, she kills people after all - her victims coming back is at the very least a professional insult. Konstantin and Eve, as her stand-in father/mother/lover figures would be the two people that could present any kind of threat to her well-being.
Her main weakness is her psychopathy: Love for her is merely obsession. She is unable to see any life as more important than her own. She lacks empathy for other people's pain and suffering, in fact enjoys watching her victims die. She's also extremely aggressive: She kills people! Her response to adversity is murder.
She's dramatic and flamboyant - a weakness in her line of work and leads to her being tracked by MI5. Her over the top murders are an expression of her ego. She also loves wearing fashionable, expensive clothes, and the greatest expression of suffering we ever saw her wear was when forced to wear a clunky pair of nurse's Crocs.
Personality: She searching for parental figures. She suffered through abuse and neglect as a child. (She doesn't like speaking Russian - which implies she has some lingering negative emotions for either her childhood in Russia, her time in prison or more likely a mix of both.) She doesn't know what she's looking for: intimacy, affection, mothering, mentoring. Sex, love and abuse are all tangled up in her mind. Love is a matter of possession: It's all about what she can take from the other person. The object of her affections is just that. An object.
Her desire boils down to obsession, it consumes her, distracts her. She performs for the object of her affection. She has a type: women, usually, though not always older than her, with thick, dark, curly hair. With Anna, they bonded over a shared hatred of Anna's husband. With Nadia, another assassin employed by the Twelve, over a shared affinity for killing. She loves Eve because she thinks they're the same. She enjoys seeing Eve fall apart and take a life in season 2. However when Eve stands up to her, becoming truly like Villanelle, not just scared and broken, Villanelle isn't happy. She doesn't really want a partner in crime, she just wants to play with her toys until she breaks them.
She's extremely childish and impractical. In her apartment she has a wardrobe full of costumes and guns, and the only thing in her fridge is champagne. She easily falls into a competitive one-upmanship with Irina, Konstantin's daughter. She wants to be the best at everything, wants attention from Eve, from Konstantin (she asks him who he loves more, her or his daughter). She enjoys pretty things, but has the same childish enjoyment in breaking other people's possessions as owning them herself - she derives as much satisfaction from eating her own ice cream as knocking one into a child's lap. Like a child, she can sulk, talk back, and whine, only in her case she can punctuate her disappointment with a bullet to the head.
She's an intelligent, petulant, drama queen of a psychopath, and any relationship with her is only ever going to end in violence.
Items: Dirty, ripped up overcoat she found on the street, a sparkly pink top, about 50% bloodstain. Dark trousers, boots.
